You may be surprised to know that the problem you have described is the biggest fit problem women face. Here's the answer.... you need to buy pants that fit your rear and hips and have them altered to fit your waist.

Your best bet is to purchase pants in a department store where seamstresses work and have them come into the dressing room to see the pants on you and fit them accordingly. A good seamstress will tell you if they can or cannot be fit properly. Unfortunately, there is almost always a charge for alterations but at least you end up with the proper fit.

You will also find that there are some brands that will fit better than others...they are designed to be "curvier"! I am also thin but have a round rear and hips and find designers cut for a straighter shape. When I get pants that fit my hips and rear, the waist often stands away from my body in the back. If it's too extreme, the pants are not for you. But, as I said, they can often be professionally fit. You may find that the lower the rise, the worse it is. If this is the case, go for a slightly higher waist. Even if it doesn't fit, it may be more easily altered. Avoid pants that pull across your hips just because they fit your waist. It is unattractive and makes you look like you've put on a few extra pounds!

I still wear low rise jeans a lot. So I guess its really not down to catwalk fashion , but down individual fashion, that means your own choice. So let's look at some ideas. You really can't go wrong with denim. Pair skinny jeans with heels and a sweet shirt and they'll take you on a date. Funk up a denim miniskirt by layering leggings underneath. Here are our favorite jean looks:

For the trendy girl in you, skinny jeans are ideal. They're tough, they're racy, and they're very eye-catching. Pair with a dolman-sleeve sweater, a feminine top, or a preppy blazer (and don't forget pumps!)

Super dark jeans -- in a dark blue rinse or light black -- are not only dressier, they make you look skinnier (and that's always a good thing).

Premium jeans are today's version of designer jeans. They have the coolest cuts and hottest labels (True Religion, Paige Denim, Chip & Pepper, Seven, etc.).
Holes bleached spots and frayed edges: they're a good thing! These vintage jeans are actually new just made to look old.

The fact that you have a small waist and narrow hips makes you the ideal candidate for this season's wide, flared leg pants! You are correct that skinny pants are in but so are very wide-legged pants. Your narrow hips will allow the pant to flare while making your bottom half look even thinner than you are. What could be better than that? As for skinny pants, try more of a straight line rather than tapered...you might be able to pull it off depending on how heavy your legs are. I'm guessing at 5'8" and 128, they're thinner than you describe.

Cotton white eyelet pants are very definitely an article of clothing reserved for summer. The only white to be worn in the winter is often referred to as "winter white". It is actually a creamier white...closer to vanilla than snow white. Also, the fabric itself makes a big difference. Most winter white pants for the winter are wool, not cotton.

Typically, January is freezing, dark, wet and boring; but there is one good thing that cheers up this time of year - January sales! It's the perfect opportunity to grab some farraginous pieces to work next season's look around, and to keep you warm as it always seems a long time before spring comes around.

A new winter coat is a fantastic investment that you'll never regret in this climate, especially if you're lucky enough to find one in the sales. So if you didn't get the one you were after for Christmas, now's the time to treat yourself and there are loads of great options to choose from this season. Lightweight and shower proof, belted trench coats and macs are all over this season in muted tones of cream, grey and tan, and even metallic white which will give your look a snappy, futuristic twist. A good look is to keep the coat plain, but add a checked keffiyeh or patterned scarf - classy fringed silk scarves in paisley and prints are set to make a comeback as Versace used them at the recent Milano Fashion Week, and they're surprisingly warm, as well as the fact girls love them! You'll be able to keep wearing a trench coat well into spring, and then wear it with big aviator sunglasses for that essential '70s detective look - very cool.

The rocker look - black leather jackets teamed with skinny white t-shirts and black jeans - is still going strong and leather biker and bomber jackets continue to rock the catwalks, with the constant trend setter David Beckham out and about in a multi-pocketed pilot number. Another choice for this trend is the plain blazer, which effortlessly bridges the smart-casual divide when worn with a t-shirt and skinny scarf. You can even pin badges onto one lapel, which you may recall was the height of cool when you were about sixteen and still in high school - mod bands like Maximo Park, and TV star Russell Brand are to thank for bringing that one back onto the fashion radar. Wear with pointy Chelsea boots, classic wingtips or brogues.

A For a more casual look next spring, lightweight nylon jackets and hoodies covered with bold, geometric patterns, angular lines and checks will be hot stuff. These are slightly reminiscent of early 90s styles, and on the same note bright, neon orange and yellow details - like piping, zips, or shoe laces - should be massive too. Shiny, futuristic fabrics including silver and gold are starting to funk up jackets, shoes and more; but remember not to go too far with this trend. One silver accent in an otherwise conservative outfit will bring your look bang up to date; a silver jacket with silver shoes, white jeans and a metallic scarf will just make you look a bit like the singer from Babylon Zoo.

Alternatively, if you're feeling indecisive and the dazzling variety of men's winter jackets [http://www.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=17551&storeId=12555&categoryId=85959&parent_category_rn=38994&langId=-1&top=Y] out there is just too much, you can never go wrong with a classic, structured wool overcoat. Double-breasted, army and navy-style pea coats are brilliant, flattering and very warm. Alternatively, there's the timeless, tailored, single-breasted style which should be a staple in every man's wardrobe. Don't think of it as your dad's wool coat, it's channeling James Dean in that unforgettable portrait in Times Square in the rain.

Men's Long Trench Coat: A Further Study

Men's Long Trench Coat: A Further Study

Have you ever seen the movie "Men In Black"? Did you notice how the main characters there, Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, carry the trench coats they were known to always wear in the film? How about Neo in the "Matrix" film? Will you agree with me when I say that Keanu Reeves is really admirable in that movie even more so because of the way he carried a long trench coat that is filled with style and glamour?

Although the trench coat was first manufactured for the British military army during the First World War, when only the dignified officers were given the right to wear them and it was not until much later that all the enlisted personnel were also given the chance to, presently it has slowly been gaining its unequaled popularity.

During that time, men's long coats, like the trench ones, were ideal to be worn because of their ability to give warmth. And since it was long, it has also been convenient for the purpose of the military to hide weapons. Although one disadvantage of the coat is that it kept on catching dirt and mud and was barely giving the personnel much time in keeping them clean.

Putting history aside, let us go back to Neo and the Matrix. What do you think made the trilogy a compelling hit aside from the interesting and unique plot of the story? Well, believe me, but it has something to do with incredibly stylish and the unique futuristic garb that is known as the men's long trench coat.

Let us discuss how the fashion sense in this movie and all the others that made use of men's coats and how it can help us in making a statement of our own, too. Let us see the different points that are worth raising for to define the men's long coats that the characters wore.

The color. Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity were always seen in the movie garbed with the color of black. This color has really fitted perfectly well in the theme of the story, which is dark, of course. Since all of them lived underworld, they need something, a color that would not show the dirt that they needed to pass through. Moreover, not to mention that it made them appear rather cool, too.

The length. Basically, the average length of an average trench coat is supposed to come to the knee only or a little slightly below. However, in the movie, they were shown to be considerably longer. In fact, Morpheus', like Neo's, long coats actually fell into the floor. This rather long length added to a taller and a more intimidating appearance of the main characters. In addition, if the typical men's long trench coats are usually belted, in the movie they were just hanging straight down for that even more cooler look.

The collar. Concentrating on the collar will lead us to the realization that Neo has actually sported two different types of collars for his long trench coat. One was high and Mandarin-like styled, while the other one was featured with wide lapels. Both styles indeed added a very dramatic stylish look that made the characters to come across really looking well in the movie screens.

The structure. The men's long trench coats that we had seen in the "Matrix" films are highly tailored and minimalist. There were no embellishments that made them appear fancy and that will draw the eye looking at it away from the clean and crisp lines. This actual stark minimalism style applies especially to the long coats that the main characters wear and fit perfectly well with the survivalist theme of the movie.

Know the Fabrics to Make Smart Outdoor Clothing Choices

Know the Fabrics to Make Smart Outdoor Clothing Choices

Dressing to survive in the outdoors starts with knowing what fabrics to wear. Different fabrics have radically different properties. Choosing the wrong type, or mixing clothing of different materials, can be disastrous!

You may not be able to tell what a garment is made of by looking. A nice, fuzzy, thick 100-percent cotton flannel shirt will be warm and cozy until it gets wet. Then that wet shirt may suck the heat out of your torso and cause hypothermia!

On the other side of the equation is wool. My hands-down favorite in the winter, wool, is generally a bad choice for a desert hike in August. Wool traps heat, and while it provides some UV protection, the material will prevent your body from cooling.
So, the buyer needs to beware.

Before buying any clothing item, read the labels and find out what the material is. Ignore fashion or what's trendy (I know that's hard - I have a 14-year-old daughter!), and make your purchase based on the activity and the clothing protection that will be needed.

Here are some common fabric choices:

* Cotton: Depending on where you live, cotton clothing can kill you. Cotton is hydrophilic, meaning it is no good at wicking wetness away from the skin, and can become damp just by being exposed to humidity.

Both of these 100% cotton garments would keep you warm until they got wet. Then, this clothing could become dangerous to wear!

Once wet, cotton feels cold and can lose up to 90 percent of its insulating properties. Wet cotton can wick heat from your body 25 times faster than when it's dry.

Since I've spent a lot of time in the Deep South, my favorite hot weather shirt is a medium-weight, white, 100 percent cotton Navy surplus shirt. The shirt has a collar that can be pulled up to shade my neck, and pockets with flaps and buttons. Cotton also has a reasonable amount of UV protection.

On really hot days in a canoe, a cotton shirt can be soaked with water, and worn to cool you down. On a desert hike, help prevent heat stroke by using a few ounces of water to wet the shirt down. (The water can come from anywhere, including that algae-edged stock tank. The evaporation is what cools you!)

The same properties that make cotton a good choice for hot weather make it a killer in rain, snow and cold.

Typical urban casual garb is probably all cotton: sweat-socks, Hanes or Fruit of the Loom underwear, jeans, tee shirt, flannel shirt and sweatshirt. This outfit may keep you warm in town, but don't wear it into the back country! Once the cotton gets wet, you could end up in trouble.

Don't be mislead by the looks and camouflage patterns of 100 percent cotton hunting clothes. These garments my be just what you need for a hot, September dove hunt in Mississippi, but they become cold and clammy when damp or wet, just like anything else made of cotton.

* Polypropylene: This material doesn't absorb water, so it is a hydrophobic. This makes it a great base layer, since it wicks moisture away from your body. The bad news is that polypropylene melts, so a spark from the campfire may melt holes in your clothing.

* Wool: Where I live in Central Oregon, wool is the standard for six months of the year. A good pair of wool pants and wool socks are the first clothing items we recommend to new Boy Scouts in our troop. For our winter scout excursions, any sort of cotton clothing is strongly discouraged. Jeans are banned.

Wool absorbs moisture, but stays warmer than many other fabrics. Wool is also inherently flame retardant.

* Polyester: This is essentially fabric made from plastic, and it's good stuff. The material has good insulation and wind-stopping value, and can be made into many different thicknesses.

* Nylon: The fabric is pretty tough and can be used on your outer layer. It doesn't absorb much moisture, and what does evaporates quickly. It is best used as some sort of windbreaker, to keep your clothing from being compromised by the wind.

* Down: This material is not a fabric, but rather, fluffy feathers stuffed inside a garment or sleeping bag. When dry, down is one of my favorite insulated materials.

But I don't use a down sleeping bag, and would hesitate wearing a down vest into the back country because of potential moisture problems. When wet, down becomes hydrophilic, and loses virtually all its insulated value. It can be worse than cotton as far as sucking heat away from your body.

In addition, a down sleeping bag or garment is virtually impossible to dry out in the back country, even with a roaring campfire.

Getting to Know Men's Long Coats a Little Better

For a man's attire to have that distinguishing look and feature, it has to have the accompaniment of a long coat. Going out without one to complete your get-up and fashion statement is like ruining the quality of your sweater and shirt. In actuality, men's coat is like shouting out a big fashion of the understated dressing.

Sometimes it is through your outer fashion getup, like an outer top coat, that people judge and make perceptions about you, regardless of what you are wearing underneath. And in choosing the perfect one to suit you, you have to take into consideration something that will perfectly suit your body, not those which appear to be just hanging there and also of course the tailored cut which was done cleverly.

There is a wide array of long coat choices for men. They can come in Shearling, leather-made, trench, and fur, among others. It is said that a Shearling coat can offer the best of protection and style for those who are often spend long time under the cold weather and climates. A handmade one can actually provide exquisite comfort plus the enjoyment that will come from the finest outerwear that is presently made now-a-days.

Other well-known characteristics of Shearling men's long coats are having soft and supple natural insulator, they are light-weight, and may have a front button jacket having slashed-style pockets, and notched collar. The styles are also ranging from simple jackets and vests to ever full-length coats. This coat is perfect if you want to enhance any of your cold-weather line up of wardrobe.

Trench coats, on the other hand, have become a definite symbol and figure of the heroic detectives, and even spies, depicted by Hollywood. But this does not mean that trench coat originated in the Hollywood movies and films. Instead it actually originated during the times of World Ward I in the UK when officers of the British army actually wore them as an option instead of their usual uniform. In so doing, the British army even commissioned the first ever company to make trench coats for them, it was Burberry.

The coat had its name since they were worn in the trenches. It so happened when the military men complained one time how their coat was being entirely ruined because of the trench mud, and because of this Aquascutum, another company commissioned, was then asked to make double breasted coats entirely made for men and this time with detachable lining. And in the US, the first company to ever make trench coats was London Fog Company, and until this very day London Fog Trench is still rather popular.

After several decades, the making of trench coats had undergone very minimal changes in style; it happened that from long skirts to short ones and to long again. The actual length of this coat actually varies from the fashion sense of the time; and even though the short trench coat has already gaining popularity, the long one can still be found around.

We are also introduced to the coats called camel hair long coat. This is actuality is really pure camel hair that is gathered whenever the animals molt in warmer climates and seasons and then will be processed very well. A camel's hair is also a fiber that gives out warmth without any added weight. The undercoat can be very soft and definitely separated from the dense or even coarse guard hair that is used fro cloth. Any product containing or made from camel hair must be really dry cleaned or even hand washed. Joseph and Feiss have come up with luxurious collection of expertly tailored sport coat which can be a very good addition to any man's elegant wardrobe.

Another type of long coat is the two-button suit jacket that has become a universal standard due to its frame-lengthening qualities. It has a classic and enduring appeal. This kind of coat can accentuate those men who have short torso. J. Crew Italian chino Aldridge two-button suit jacket has been woven from the finest mill qualities of Crespi mill. You can also try Versace Collection of men's stripped suit for peaked lapels, long sleeves with button cuffs and flap jackets.

The main point here is to invest in long coat. Although they may be quite expensive, they come with an assurance that they will last for all the years to come. And after all, a perfect long coat to accentuate whatever lacking in your attire will be worth it.

The Trench Coat - A Trend For All Seasons

The Trench Coat - A Trend For All Seasons

ItemTitle

As it goes, the trench coat first became popular during World War 1 after originally being developed for the British military. And the classic design is not too dissimilar to what is now recognised by many as the traditional trench coat - double breasted with slotted pockets, an adaptable collar and four buttons.

Elements of the original trench coat design that were created for practicality, are now just included for style. Different designers now re-create the trench coat to provide a range of different features around the same style. Indeed, fashionistas can now choose from double breasted or single breasted, cropped or full length, belted and even wax-coated.

So, why has the trench coat developed such a strong appeal, year after year? One obvious reason is the British weather; trench coats can provide a practical but trendy cover-up. Furthermore, they have an all-weather appeal, with designs including a removable liner, which can last you through all seasons.

Furthermore, the key trends in recent times for men's coats include the duffle coat, the pea coat, leather coats and blazers. However, for something a bit more adaptable, a short coat such as the cropped or three quarter length trench coat provides that extra flexibility in style.

The professional choice for businessmen, trench coats are no longer just for wearing over suits; now trench coats can compliment a range of styles and outfits from casual jeans to smart trousers. Indeed, the coat lends itself to the sophisticated and 'structured casual' look.

And it's not just a good raincoat; the trench can provide a certain romantic film-like finesse to your wardrobe. As such, famous style icons and trench coat wearers include Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, to name but a few. In fact, they have also been spotted being worn by politicians and artists alike; and the fashion has also been adopted by sports stars such as Serena Williams, who strolled onto court at Wimbledon 2008 with a pristine white cropped version.

Trench coats remain in fashion but the fabrics and styles adopted continue to update. With a range of fabrics from tartan to classic grey wool and a variety of lengths from cropped, full length and three quarter length, the trench coat has been brought back into this century.

Of course, bringing a classic up to date can be difficult, as it involves embracing the original elements of the design with new features that will appeal to the current trend setters. But trench coats continue to retain their popularity year after year, season after season. So if you have never owned one, it may be time for a new addition to your wardrobe.
